The Great Hall

The iconic Round Table of Arthurian legend has dominated Winchester’s ancient Great Hall for centuries.  The Great Hall is one of the finest surviving examples of a 13th century aisled hall and is an enhancement of the original Winchester Castle built by William the Conqueror. Queen Victoria's Statue, The Great Hall, Winchester Castle, Hampshire <br />In the Great Hall of Winchester Castle can be found this rather enormous bronze statue of Queen Victoria sitting on her Imperial Throne. It was apparently sculpted by Sir Alfred Gilbert RA. It was presented to Hampshire by the then High Sheriff of Hampshire Mr W. I. Whittaker to mark Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee as Monarch in 1887.
